Show us your MEdia Challenge

Hi everyone!

Today I'd like to share a journal page I put together for the  Dina Wakely monthly "Show us your MEdia Challenge"

For this challenge, you are to create a peace of art about what makes you, you.
What makes me, me is the drive I have. I am driven in everything that I am and do.

I love the idea of expressing this in vivid color!
For this challenge, I used one of Dina's sweet girl stamps, one of her stencils, and her rubber painting tool.

Will you be giving this a try? If so, Dins suggests you do something that shows how you are unique. Express your you-ness. What makes you real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, beautiful, etc.

For more details, go to Dina's blog

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Show us your MEdia Challenge

Hi Everyone!

Today I'd like to share a page I put together for the new Dina Wakely monthly "Show us your MEdia Challenge"

For this challenge, the idea is to put the “me” back in mixed media. Dina has begun a MEdia challenge that will have a series of monthly challenges and prompts that will fuel your creative spirit and help you delve into the ME of MEdia.

Here are the Challenge Rules:
They will announce monthly challenges on the Ranger blog on the third Thursday of each month.
Use at least one Dina Wakley Media product in your project. If your product is not obvious (like paint), please list the colors you used.
  • You can make anything you like—a card, an art journal page, a tag, a canvas, anything!
  • Interpret each challenge any way you like. You can be literal or you can use it as a springboard and see where it takes you. Let the challenge inspire you and stretch you.
  • Try to journal on your piece. Write your thoughts about each prompt. You can write a little or you can write a lot, but do your best to incorporate your thoughts and feelings into the piece.
  • When you complete a challenge, please share it on your blog and social media (Instagram/Facebook) with the tags #showusyourMEdia and #rangerink.
  • We will do two random drawings each month for a prize. We will search the hashtag #showusyourMEdia on Instagram for one winner, and then on Facebook for the second winner. To be clear, you must use the hashtag #showusyourMEdia on either Instagram or Facebook in order to show up in the search and to be eligible to win. You have until the third Wednesday of each month to complete the previous month’s challenge.
  • We will announce the previous month’s winner AND the new challenge on the third Thursday of each month.
For my MEdia project, I used one of Dina's stamps.

This is going to be a fun challenge....are you going to play along?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Index Card a day!

Hi everyone!

Today I'd like to share another index card that I put together for the index card a day  challenge.
Today's card represents the challenge for "Wings"

Those lovely wings are those helicopters that are falling from the trees in my area.
The color is a brilliant red. I found these on my walk this morning and thought they were so stunning, that instantly, I decided to use them as my wings for my index card today.
In the center of the wings is a rusty bottle cap that I also came upon during my walk.
I thought, wow, how blessed am I....this is just perfect for today!

Here are some close-ups:

I also saw, and heard, many birds today, and decided to go with the bird verbiage to step out...

This is such a fun challenge....so soothing, as you are able to just go with it, and do your own thing....you should give it a try!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Playing with an index card

Hello all,

I have seen so many gorgeous, and inspiring  index cards, crafted by artists who have joined in on the index card a day fun, that I've decided to play along.

Here is my first index card which represents todays challenge for a tetrahedron. For this challenge, I painted book pages, cut out triangles from the pages, sewed them together, and then added on....

Being the biker that I am, looking at the tetrahedron, made me think of a mountain, and a picture that I saw of a biker, on top of that mountain, with the quote referring to the difficulty of  climbing the mountain, but the view at the top was worth it. Yes, life can bring us mountains to climb....but, if we preserver, the climb is well worth it.

Here's a close-up:

My card says... life is a climb, but the view is great. Yes, once we've reached our goal, we can look back, and see that the climb was well worth it!
Love the idea of index cards...such a fun way to play around! Why not join in on the fun!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Yep!

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share a lo that I did for the current SC scrapbook sketch. Such a simple, yet fun sketch.

Here's the sketch:

Here are some close-ups:

For this lo, I used the February Studio Calico scrapbook kit for the background paper, and the February project life kit, for the square under the pic. I cut four of the PL cards, and then sewed them together to make the square with the colors I wanted.

I cut the stars out of pp that came in the scrapbook kit.
The wonderful colored dots are also from the scrapping kit.

I colored the background with watercolors to match all the pretty stuff in the kits.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Journaling Prep

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share some journaling with you. I love to prep my pages using the Holidays as a starting point, and then coloring/painting images to go with them. With Valentine's day just hours away, I thought I'd share the page I did to prep for it.

I painted a heart, and then decided to sew the letters "love" on it. I then adhered it to my page with pretty gold washi tape.  I have found this to be a great way to start a page, and get myself motivated to keep track of events that are coming up.

Here is how I prepped for New years Eve and then Christmas. I hope this inspires you to do the same:

Yup, New years is always a little bubbly so of course I drew and painted a glass of wine....fun, and so fitting for our New Years toast!

The next pic is of a Christmas tree, that I painted...what else but a Christmas tree for Christmas!
We always go tag a tree, and then cut it down a couple months later, so this is perfect for my planner book.

Hope you've enjoyed your visit! Thank you for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

Hugs!
